About Us & What We Believe

Bring people to life in Jesus.

Teach them walk with him daily.

Make Him known in our community and around the world.

We are a church focused on making a difference in our community! Through that lens, we choose as top priority the following core values:

Reach people with the life changing love and power of the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible alone as the infallible Word of God and the only source to bring about repentance, contrition, direction, and encouragement for our lives.

Leaders, missionaries, teachers, church planters, pastors and lay leaders to reach their greatest potential for what God is calling them to do. Whether you are single, married, a student, a child, old or young, God has a purpose for your life!

Christ followers into the local community and to the ends of the earth to share the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Simply stated: reach, teach, equip and send.

Statement of Faith

We Believe

One God

We believe that there is one living and true GOD, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all things. (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:8 and 48:16; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:30; Hebrews 1:3).

The Bible

We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error and the infallible rule of faith and practice. The Word of God is the foundation upon which this church operates and is the basis for which this church is governed. We believe that the Word of God supersedes any earthly law that is contrary to the Holy Scriptures. We believe that the King James Version of the Bible is the most accurate translation from the original ancient text. It is from this translation that we establish our doctrine and Statement of Faith. (Isaiah 28:13; Nehemiah 8:8; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:3-4 and 1:21).

The Father

We believe in the person of God the Father, an infinite, eternal, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all those who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalms 90:2; Psalms 102:27; John 3:16 and 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17; Titus 1:3).

We believe in the person of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, his substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth. (Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2; Matthew 1:23; Mark 16:19; Luke 1:34-35; John 1:1-2, 8:58 and 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 1 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 1:2; Revelation 1:8).

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit, Who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ; (Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 3:18; John 16:8-11; Romans 8:26 and 15:13,16; Hebrews 9:14).

We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide. (John 6:13, 14:16-17 and 16:8-11; Romans 8:26).

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all Biblical gifts of the Spirit according to the instructions given to us in 1 Corinthians 12-14. (1 Corinthians 14)

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and, therefore, are under condemnation; that God saves and regenerates based upon faith by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord. (Acts 8:15-17; Ephesians 2:1-3 and 8-9; Romans 3:23 and 5:8; Titus 3:5).

We believe in the universal church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and all who are born again are a part of the Body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:15-16)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the church: (a) full immersion water baptism of believers, and (b) the Lord’s Supper. (Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26) We also believe that the Lord Jesus Christ validated the ordinance of marriage. (Matthew 19:4-5 and John 2:1-11)

Second Coming

We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ which is His personal, visible return to earth and the establishment of His millennial kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous and endless separation of the wicked. (Matthew 16:27; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16, 20:11-15)

We believe in the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the Church where all believers will meet the Lord in the air and be taken out of this world prior to the Tribulation that will come upon the earth. (Isaiah 26:20; Matthew 24:29-31; Luke 21:36; Romans 1:18, 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 4:13-16 and 5:9; 2 Peter 2:7-9; Revelation 3:10, 5:7-10 and 7:13-14)

Heaven and Hell

We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell and that all those who place their faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord, while those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from the Lord. (Psalm 9:17; Matthew 5:3, 5:22, 18:9 and 25:31-34; Mark 9:42-49; Luke 12:5; John 3:18; Hebrews 12:23; 1 Peter 1:4; Revelation 14:10-11 and 20:11-15)

Knowing God

Get ready for a life change

You’re a sinner. Face it. We’ve all blown it and we need a Savior.  Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Every person ever born, throughout all time was born a sinner.  Each of us must realize that this sin separates us from a PERFECT God.  Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Jesus died on the cross for you. God’s solution for our sin problem is found in His Son, Jesus Christ.  Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  What does this mean?  This means that right now, today, you can be saved…

Repent means to make a change of direction.  We need to be sorry enough for our sins to turn away from things that don’t please God and toward the things that do. Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”  This is GOOD news!  Look carefully at this scripture.  Speak it, believe it, and then know you will be saved.  This verse can radically transform your life.

Jesus is your personal Lord and Savior. Don’t try to get it together before you come to God! He cleans us up, forgives our sins and gives us a fresh start when we yield our lives to Him. John 1:12 “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”  This verse is great comfort.  You are no longer who you were, but now you are a child of the living God.

Becoming a Christ follower is not an event. It’s the greatest lifestyle in the world and the best decision you will ever make! John 15:4-5 “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”  Getting saved is not an event.  It is a lifestyle. Stick close to Jesus and get Connected with other Christ Followers who can help you learn and grow!  Being excited about being ‘saved’ is the result of knowing for sure that you have eternal life in Heaven, and realizing that God loves you and has plans for your life!

Our Story

The start of a journey

Port Orange is a growing, diverse community nestled between New Smyrna and Daytona Beach, FL. I was drawn to move our family to this community by the Lord, sensing it was the right place to begin a new Calvary Chapel.

Calvary Chapel had its beginning in 1965 at Costa Mesa, California with Pastor Chuck Smith. The church and Pastor Chuck were known for its casual, welcoming style to people of all ages. Pastor Chuck approached the Bible, with a verse by verse method of study, and a sound and clear presentation of the Gospel. Pastor Chuck and his wife, Kay, had a love for the lost surfers and hippies. This love led to the opening of the church welcoming all, “long haired, short haired, some shirts and ties” to Calvary Chapel. A revival known as the “Jesus Movement” began and spread from coast to coast, and even around the world. This “little country church on the edge of town” caught the fire of the Holy Spirit as the younger generation gained a new purpose and found unconditional love through the Good News of The Lord Jesus Christ!

Calvary Chapel now has over 1600 fellowships around the world. Each fellowship is unique according to the purpose of God in that community and the heart of the pastor and leadership.

My life continues to be impacted by the love of Christ! Since receiving Jesus Christ as my person Savior, my life is forever changed! The Calvary Chapel “style” of teaching verse by verse, helped me to gain insight and grow as a Christ Follower.

Katie is my wife of nine years. We met in 2004, and immediately knew; God had plans for us! Our hearts beat as one, in the passion and desire to reach the lost, encourage the discouraged, teach anyone, young, old, and in-between to walk hand in hand with the Lord, equipping them with the right “tools” to do what our mighty God has created them to do! Jesus, left His disciples with these final instructions, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

We see our purpose to join with Him as His disciples, reaching, teaching, equipping others; to ultimately be sent out, reaching others for His Kingdom, in Volusia county and around the world! It is with this vision, this heart, this strong passion; we are here in Port Orange!

We look forward to meeting you face to face!

How To Get Involved

It all starts with talking to God (Ephesians 1:15. 18; Colossians 1:3-9)

Support the vision God has set in place (Acts 2:43-47; 2 Corinthians 8:7)

Be sensitive to the Spirit leading your steps (Ephesians 4:11-12; Ecclesiastics 4:9)

Grow in your own personal walk by fellowshipping with others (Ephesians 4:14-16; Hebrews 13:20-21)

Serve Team Application

We believe that our serve team is incomplete without you! Just like the human body is incomplete, if it is missing and arm or an ear, the church is incomplete without everyone serving together (1 Corinthians 12:27). If you call CCPO, your church family, we would love for you to consider serving. Our heart is that you would reach your highest potential in Jesus Christ! One thing that we like to say around here is, “You can do it, we can help!” God has given you, very specific gifts and talents; we simply want to help you use them. If your spirit just said yes, fill out this application and let’s get started on this journey. We look forward to serving together, as we make Jesus known in our community and around the world!
